Question Tailgate glass intermittently will not close

Intermittently, the glass pops open. I can close it for a few seconds, then it opens again... over and over... if I hold the glass shut, the mechanism will click like crazy. I have turned the car off and back on a few times and I have tried to close the door with the car turned off with the same results.

I removed the trim cover off to see if there was anything exposed or obvious, but there wasn't. The same problem happened intermittently a couple of years ago, but randomly went away until about a week ago. The video was taken this morning.

Has anyone else had this problem?

There is a switch in the handle mounted to the glass that can go bad. Easy enough to replace. Costs about $50 if I remember right. Root cause seems to be water ingress past the seals (automated car wash ???).

I managed to find this tidbit, along with the DIY documentation last night. The part is on order, so we will see. I'm not looking forward to ripping the harness apart if the problem is in there.

Many thanks!
