Thumbs up

Does the 5 Series Touring have a single screenwash reservoir for both front and rear screens or separate ones (like my wife's E46 Touring)?

Stupid question I know but I haven't had my E61 for very long!

Thanks Jeff - you've saved me from looking like an idiot trying to find a washer bottle in the boot that doesn't exist!!

And another thing: when it's cold, make sure you don't run out of liquid. The pipe at the rear tends to freeze (probably a non-return valve gets stuck with a little ice if the pipe is not full) if there is very little liquid left in the reservoir.

That will explain why my rear washer didn't work this morning (the reason for my original question)!!

If you put a small amount of alcohol in the water, it will not freeze and your glass will be cleaner. (In fact this is what commercial bottled screen cleaning liquid has as component)

The interesting point is that it still froze with 20% isopropyl alcohol+detergent in the bottle... and it wasn't even all that cold (-4 minimum).

Don't they sell washer fluids for the winter in UK?

In the wintertime I use washerfluids that do dot freeze at -25 C.
