I have the sport seats. Same here. Took a long time to get the correct comfortable position. My back was aching as well after a long drive (which isn't related to age as I'm only 34). I finally found a correct position however the only disadvantage is that the back rest now is further away at the shoulders (with my head I barely can reach the headrest). Never had this problem in my Alfa 166. A bit annoying.
Its good to here its not just me, thanks everyone.

There have been a number of threads here about which seats are best. My conclusion, which is pretty obvious really, is that it mainly comes down to taking the time to find the right position for you. Lots of Comfort Seat owners will tell you the same. Its not just a matter of sitting in there and its right from the start.
I have had Sport Seats in all 3 of my 5ers. In the first one it took a long time to get the right position, because I was used to a more laid back seat position in the E46 (3er), whereas the best position for me in the 5er is much more up right. In my second 5er it only took a couple of journeys to find the right position. Now with my 3rd 5er, it was a few minutes! I was doing 60000km per year in my previous 5ers and in my current 5er have travelled 850km between Copenhagen and Frankfurt... no back problems what so ever
So my advice is simply take the time to find the right seating position. From my experience a more up-right and higher seating position may be best, even though it initially takes some getting used to. Good luck!

Take your time in the garage or at the parking lot to adjust them.
Then when you take a longer trip, use the few electrical adjustments
to slightly adjust and differ the seat positions once in a while.
Worked just fine for me.

I done that, sitting in the garage and adjusting when find
the best feeling adjust.
That works fine to me too.
Last week two days trip 900km and the seat feel much better.
