I have now narrowed the car down to a touring with the pro sat nav and an auto box. These decisions were made with the help of the guys on here- so, one more question- do i go for SE or SPORT. I do 40k miles per year on british roads-mainly motorway mileage. Is the ride in the sport too harsh? or is it just firmer? I have driven the SE and loved the drive, but does the firmer suspension and run-flats effect the ride overly?

I drive a car with 18" and run-flats now, and i have to say it is harsh but not terrible and the run flats have blown twice on the motorway and i did not even notice- great invention i think.

My car has the sport suspension and 17" runflats, and I love the ride. Can't compare with a non-sport E60, but the ride is definitely firmer than my previous (non-sport) E39. I do not find it harsh at all, and the car feels extremely well settled on motorway cruising (it's great on the b-roads too ). The only thing I would point out is that it is so settled on the motorway that you really do need to keep an eye on the speed... you'll get into licence-losing territory very easily without noticing at all.

Hi,

I drive the touring non-sport and have 17" wheels with runflats 245/45 and i must say you feel the contact with the road very good.

Personally i didn't buy the SPORT edition because i had a testdrive with one and it felt way too hard/uncomfortable for me. As opposed to my previous cars (volvo xc90 en volvo 850 touring) the non-sport edition feels already like a car that handles more sportslike.

Of course... to each his own. Maybe you should tesride one before deciding...

I can only add that we test drove a 525 in SE and a 530 in Sport. THe Sport felt a lot better - though I'll concede that a lot of that could well be down to the extra power.

And of course, the Sport does LOOK better.

A very personal choice, I have the SE but prefer the sport. And if you get rid of the runflats it is perfect.

reccommend the M sport

But do take a road test drive before, and that will give you good idea of which is best for you

+1 .. there is no better guide than how it feels to you in a test drive.
