One of the iDrive's hardest critics, the German car magazine auto, motor und sport, gives (finally) credit to BMW's invention in last edition. Among eight different cars the X5 comes third in a test where a test panel was asked to adjust sound, heating, enter a place in the SatNav and so forth. Thanks to the prorgammable 8 buttons, the iDrive is sometimes fastest, but loose the battle when "trivial" things like changing bass/treble. All in all with 103 points out of 130 it comes in just behind VW Golf at 107 pts but finds itself distanced by the new MB C-class at 112 pts. Fourth place Lexus LS460 at 96 pts.
