My E61 had the water problems so I can empathise & sympathise. Removing the drain hose bungs along with the occasional flushing with a bottle of water from the top has kept the prob at bay. Touch wood. If it recurs i would consider completely sealing the edges of the sunroof & disabling the motor or switch. A non-opening glass roof is good enough considering the other merits of the car. And add to that the cost savings of not replacing or 'up'grading it. Errmmm 'up'?
