Rear defroster not working?

Well, I think the rear defroster is not working but cannot tell for sure because it is unseasonably mild for this time of the year. Light is "on" on the dashboard but it seems the rear defrost doesn't work. What should I Check?

Yes, same issue for me last month, was tailgate harness wire cut right through. Follow the repair procedure on other thread. If you leave this fault and use the heater the end of the cut wire will melt through your rear screen water hose and leak into your roof space and head lining!
