I read somewhere recently that late 2005 530ds got a power hike from 218 to 230 (or thereabouts).

I just wondered if anyone could tell me whther mine (registered September 05) would be the lower or higher powered version.

The increase came from production month 09/2005 as a feature of MY2006. But it depends on country to country.

I also recommend you to update your signature with which country you live in (although I guess it's UK).

Please ask your dealer to print the full specification of your car; there you'll get production day, which site, full spec of engine, equipment etc etc.

Should be in the back Technial spec section of the thick manual.
Parkers shows current output as 227hp, but that's probably the efficient dynamics version. See http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/specs/...spx?model=1135

If spec did change, it will be from build date, rather than reg. date.

You can tell by the Idrive controller - all silver 218bhp, black top = 231bhp.

Also, I think the stop/start button came in the same time.

If yours was registered in Sept, it is not likley to be the 231 most I have seen were Oct onwards and even then there are a fair amount that were registered late.

Checked the docs at the weekend and it is the 218bhp version.

Not that it makes any odds now, it's just nice to know.

 

So Kell, when are you getting the tuning box/remap?
Marks (out of 10) for the e61 so far?

 

I don't think we'll be going down the tuning route. Although, having said that, the only thing I don't like about the car is the fuel economy, and it's possible a remap would actually help.

Out of 10? Probably 8 - and that's only got marks off because of the poor economy.

Still, I reckon we got a bargain at 26.5k so I'm still happy.
