Hi Guys - just a quick question - I'd really appreciate your thoughts.
I'm in the uk - and my 530 dse is coming at the end of the week ( so excited !!). When I did the deal ; the dealer said he could deliver it to my house ( great I thought - that saves a 75 mile trip with wife and 10 week old baby - a great help)
BUT
now I find he's not planning to drop it off a transporter but it's been driven here!
I'm astonished . This is a 37K car - which I intend to run in carefully and cherish for many years. I don't want some spotty youngster thrashing my pride and joy round the M25 for 75 miles (testing it's abilities and tyre grip!) before I even get it !
Please tell me - am I being an idiot ... Or shall I stick to my request for a transporter ? ( Dealer is Coppers in Tunbridge Wells) Thanks Guys

My 520 was delivered up to Yorkshire by a driver from Vines Redhill. Although I was not happy at my new car having 250 miles on the clock I did wangle an extra ?150 discount and the driver was a very nice mature and trustworthy retired gentleman who I am sure treated my new car with the same respect I would have done. If you are only 75 miles away why not collect yourself?

Even if i had to drive all day long, i would pick the car myself.
Have a nice drive!

I am also driving 75 miles or so to actually pick mine up. I want to go through the dealer's orientation, I want to be able to speak up about any tiny little thing I see that's wrong, I want to try and work them for a couple freebies (keychains, etc!
) and I am looking forward to driving it back. This is a no-brainer.
Plus, I can hardly wait to get it. I don't want them waiting like an extra day or two to drop it off. I want the car as soon as the dealer is ready to give it up.
Good luck...

Registered as guest for first post - sorry!
Thanks for all the replies.
Dealer has been really unhelpful - since the order was placed - for example offered 16K for my SLK 320 which eventually sold for 20K. This left me a little miffed ..Then all this hassle getting the car delivered ! Planning to get the missus to drive me to Tunbridge tommorow. Will post pics and a review later! (though the cars should look identical to ISUK's !)
