for reference, 2007 XiT 530 were about 29k 2/2009 and 30-31k 2/2010 (They went up!!) non-cpo low mileage
I expect 2/2012 535 to be low to mid 30's in 2012 based on above (drumroll)

Sorry above are close to best price you could get, may not be retail

Yes, 15k miles is more than I would like but and I would prefer a different color combo but there are so few here for sale (basically none). Yes, waiting until we return is an option; or (I hate to say it) but the new F10 (launch party this weekend) may be a better fit. Not a wagon but maybe Kim would be okay with a sedan that she can order with exact colors and options. If we go that route, we will wait for X drive in the fall. Personally, I think the 528xi would be plenty fast enough and we could probably get it with options for just under $50K.

I am still a bit nervous about the N54 engine/HPFP.
I found several 2009 and a few 2010 used wagons on autotrader.com. What you may be doing wrong is selecting the "535xi" model from the pick list. The proper model designation in 2009 and 2010 is "535i" with the xDrive and the Touring body style being separate from the model designation. Select 535i model, years 2009 and 2010 and the wagon body style and you should generate a list of wagons available on Autotrader.com.
One other vehicle you might want to consider is an Audi Q5. The Q5 is an interesting alternative IMHO with a MSRP of about $45K well equipped. The Audi Q5 3.2 Quattro was my second choice.

Mike: Thank you! That was exactly what I was doing wrong!!! I found the 2010s on Autotrader.com using your guidance. I'll keep my eye on that and try and get a good sense of what 2010s are running these day

If we do end up with it and figure that only BMW 5 Tourings are the cars for us, we will have to keep buying and driving them for a few years and then go back and find a clean low miles used 2010 every couple of years.

We had a 96 Toyota 4 Runner for year and my wife hated it so she has sworn off that whole genre of vehicles (as have I) and she won't even consider an X3 or X5. We have a TT (my car) and she doesn't care for it much either due to the front brakes (that occasionally squeal like old school bus and the fact that the satnav will not work in Germany).

Personally, I would have been happy with another V70 but she said no to the new body style.

Best of luck finding the vehicle that you and your wife both want. My 2010 535i thus far is on track to average about 5000 miles per year. It may qualify as the low mileage used car that you are looking for in a few years. Of course, by that time BMW may decide to offer the 5 series Touring in the U.S. again. I would like to try a 530d version.
