In Sweden You're not allowed to tint the front side windows, or more exactly...You are allowed to have them slightly tinted but the % is more or less the same as a standard glass so even the lightest film will take You over the limit. For the back seat or cargo area there are no regulations.

When I was looking into this I concluded that the factory tint option "BMW Individual Sun Protection Glass" is 35%. I had 35% tint put in my previous E60 550i and my current E60 535d has the factory option and it looks the same. My E61 530d had about 15% tint, which was "Midnight" from Foliatech (supplied and fitted by Auto Glass). I have pictures of all of my 5ers in my Gallery, see link in signature.

Nice car BTW! I'm still planning on getting a V8 again -- I miss that engine sooo much!
