When I used to work for Renault we had a paint shop. The old Renault 25 chrome trims always used to go milky. Several times we sprayed them for customers (usually black) and we game the a light rub with a scotchbrite, then a clean with a tack cloth, the sprayed them with a self etching primmer followed by a gloss black with a matting agent in it to give a sort of mat sheen (if that makes sense).

Good luck.

I can thoroughly recommend a 535D! Economy with 545 go (especially if remapped!)
