Parking sensor problem

Washed our car today---new to us '06 530 xit. It's very cold (below freezing here.) Drove the car ok;parked it for about an hour.
When we started the car and attempted to drive away, both front and rear sensors were activated. Stopped; rubbed all sensors. Started the car, and both ends alarmed again. We drove home anyway (not far) and the alarm quit after maybe 500 feet or so. At no time were we close to any objects that would have set the sensors off.
Any ideas why? Would hate to have a dirty car all winter because of this.

Thanks. I stopped the car; shut it off, and wiped the sensors. All of them. When it did it again, I repeated that. Couldn't feel anything. Car was clean, and dried after washing. Wonder if the ice/film was in the sensor surround?

If they don't restore to normal operation you may need to see if warranty (is it still under factory warranty?) will cover it. There should be no reason why a normal wash should damage these things! I would NOT admit to using high pressure or power washing if that's what you did and the dealer asked!

I wouldn't aim a full-pressure water spray directly at the sensors and the owner's manual specifically warns against using a pressure washer against the sensors.

Glad your sensors came back on-line! You used your garden hose - In Ontario?!? I would have thought the deep freeze turned your hose into a popsicle. BRRRRRRRR, it's freezin here in NJ!
