The dealer did not have a 525d for me to test drive. So i am i bit nervous as to how the new engine will perform.
A friend is looking at a 530d Touring, so took him for a spin in mine. He was quite surprised by the way it moved, with the auto in DS mode. He is thinking of a 525d now, with more toys on.

My Ride: Jan 2006 E63 650i Sport
.
Options:
Sport version (includes: sport-seats, sport-suspension, M-Sport steering wheel, Anthracite headliner, Shaddow Line), Saphire Black, Black Dakota Leather, Anthracite Maple Wood trim, Steptronic Auto, Xenons, NAV-Professional with Voice Control, TV, CD-Changer, Bluetooth, Logic7, Head-up Display, Comfort Access, Seat Heating front, Auto Dimming & Folding Mirrors, Extended Auto Air Conditioning, PDC.
.
Mods:
Spacers 5mm front & 15mm rear
.
Wheels:
20" Alpina Softline (Classic) with Dunlop Sport Maxx non-RFT (255/35/20 & 285/30/20)
As mentioned above, I would go for the shaddow line and window tint. I find it gives it a slicker and sportier look. IMHO it also makes it a little more indivdual, because from experience most non m-sport Tourings tend to have the chrome-line finish. Check out the picks below.
(The rims on this car are 19" Alpina Classics, which should also give you an idea of what a larger rim would look like on your ride.)

Thanks for your advice
I?m going for the nappa leather because I want a different feel than my current e60 520i with black dakota leather.
The comfort package in Norway is: PDC, Xenon, leather, armrest, extended climate system.
I love the M styling, but i?m going for a more classic look, but tinted windows is not a bad idea. Should work great with monaco blue.

(btw, when Ordered my current 5 series i forgot to get the cup holders . Fatal mistake )

I would also recommend the Sports Auto transmission (it's only another ?70 in the UK) and maybe the Active steering (had it on my last car, but not this one - would probably order it again though). Dynamic Drive is good, but pricey (again, it's included in the MSport pack though)
Personally, I like the run flats - even on the MSport the ride is not too harsh and the convenience is great. RFTs have certainly come on since my last car, so I wouldn't change them for non RFTs.
Other stuff - definitely the USB/Aux for the iPod, and also the Xenon lights (already included in your Comfort pack).
Enjoy!

I can't really add much to the above - except to say that I think the heated front seats and manual rear side blinds are excellent options. I bought a 530d MSport Touring and it's a great car - you get a lot in the MSport pack, but if you want the SE look, then go for it. (Msport pack gives you 18" rims and tyres, sports seats, sports wheel, full body kit, shadow line trim, MSports suspension and a few other bits and pieces)

Get the Media Pack: Professional SatNav, Telematics, BMW Online etc....see if you can get your dealer to delete the CD Changer though and give you the USB/Aux instead.

the 525d is 118 000 $ and the 525i is 125 000$. The reason why I?m choosing diesel, is the price difference.

The Dynamic Drive is not compatible with the M-Sport package, so you need to decide whether to go for a M-sport package or a car with Dynamic Drive. Or to make a workaround; order the car with Dynamic Drive and later add the spoilers fro the M-sportpackage but skip the suspension part...
Dynamic Drive and AS can't be ordered if you have X-Drive...
No problem with DD and AS on M-package.
