Just purchased an '06 530xi and want to know what the normal operating temp is. My tach indicator runs at about 4 lines once the engine is warmed up (average temps here have been in the teens lately).

I think 4 is as high as it gets - to read the actual coolant temp find it in the hidden menu via http://www.scoopz.com/m5board/E60_Hi...structions.pdf

Am I looking at a thermostat issue?

Dunno - check your real coolant temp - that gauge on the edge of the tach is only slightly more useful than a chocolate teapot.
