Hi guys,
I previously owned an E46 Touring, and one of the features I used most was the opening of the trunk window pressing the button on the key.
I usualy have one or two laptops and a digital camera in the trunk, so this option was neat to avoid passers by having a good look of the trunk contents.
To my surprise, the same key button on my E61 opens the whole door, not just the window.
Asked the dealer to reprogram it and they said it's not possible.
That's really strange. AFAIK all the previous BMW Touring models opened the rear window with the remote, not the door.
Of course I can unlock the car first, and then manually open the rear window.
But my point is if they have a customer base used to some nice feature, why take it away for no apparent good reason ?
Has this annoyed any more members of the board ?
Cheers.

Ok, I'm the only one that noticed or cares about the change?
My life will never be the same again?

Since there are no e61's in the USA, I'm at loss to offer help.
However, as an e46 touring owner I agree that this shouldn't be so hard. After all, there's the "trunk release" button by the hood release on the e46 and the key opens the glass. Why shouldn't this be available with the e61?

My Ride: e39 525i Touring, will order e61 as soon as I can decide on engine and options...
Hi,
on my e39 the remote key only opens the complete trunk, the glass has to be opened manually.

My Ride: Booked: E70n X5 40d M. Carbonblack, oyster, comfortseats, Nav Pro, Active Drive, Panoramic, Hifi PRO DSP, HUD, Alutrim, Satin ext, gloss rails, towconnector, elctric lid, alarm and more.
FS: E61 535D -06, Activesteering, Comfort seats, Hifi, M-steeringwheel, PDC, Rails, Tinted windows, Folding mirrors, Towconnector, Alu trims, Panoramic roof, ISO FIX, SonyEricsson BT-HF, 124 wheels, Alarm, Electric lid, Aburn interior, Xenons, Silvergrey and the crappy cupholders!!!
I have the electric lid and it only opens the whole back from the remote. The glass can only be opened with the handle.
I don't think it's that big problem. But I wish that the rollo had followed the lid as it do on the MB E-class wagons.
