My Ride: 2008 550I LOADED, all options except HUD and NV
Exactly the same thing happened to me (2004 E61 530d) last year. I have 18 inch stock wheels and had the same Kumho tires, just non-RFT.
My tyre size was stock (245-40-18) on all four wheels and alignment was perfectly fine, done shortly before this happened, and checked as I discovered it.
My explanation is: the fu***ng tires are s**t.
Now I am running Pirellis and after 20,000 miles I don't see any excessive wear on the inside.
Also, what I noticed is that my Pirellis have a "belt" of very hard rubber built-in the thread close to the inner edge of the tyre, obviously meant to prevent such excessive wear - and it works.

This is possible too, if you really have even wear (get a tire shop to confirm) and the alignment is good then I would check the date code on the tires and see if you just happened to get an old, possibly dry rotted, set of tires. Also, Kumho was going out of business I thought, this may be a reason why they are.
