Apologies for the duplicate post in the E60 forums, not sure if I have broken "rule" by posting a Touring question in Sedan threads!
I'm new here, so apologies also if this is a dumb question, please be gentle with me. I have done a search on this forum, but have managed to just confuse myself further....
I'm looking at replacing our 4 year old Lexus RX330 with a 5 series Touring.
I have found one that could be a great price, but I am a little confused about the description. It is described as
10/07, 530i, E60 MY07 Touring (circa 2005)
It has done 5,000Km's (approx 3,000 miles)
It has various features, but I'm not sure which are standard and which are options - bluetooth, panorama sunroof, Xenon lights, parking sensors etc
My confusion is mainly the model year.
I assume MY07 = Model Year 2007. Is this correct? so why do they also say "circa 2005"
Is there a newer model? eg E61?
I have looked on-line at various used car sites, and have found a wide range in used prices... from AU$70K up to AU$120K, for cars with similar mileage, that appear to be only a year apart in build date.
I gather there must have been a change /update to the model, which must account for the difference???

In 2008 BMW did a mild face lift/update of the 5 line.
In addtion the 2008 535XI is now a twin turbo engine producing 300 HP, this is a big difference.
As far a 2007 wagons gos the 530 is the best pick in the market, however the 2008 535 is better.

Depends where you're based as to what was and wasn't standard.
I'm by no means an expert on when new models were introduced etc - but AFAIK, the touring is the E61, the Saloon (or Sedan) is the E60.
My ideal pick would be the 535d - but if you're in the states then I don't think you really 'do' diesel.

Hey John Porsche guy... if you add you location... even if it's jst the country... to your profile you'll get more specific answers with regard to what features & packages were available in your marketplace.
We have an 83 911 cabriolet and I think our 535 wagon might be just as much fun. Best of luck to you.

Hi guys
thanks for all the helpful advice.
I'm in Sydney Australia (need to figure out how to update my profile)
2. I suspect the ad is carelessly worded... it must be an E61, but I I have discovered that most online ads refer to both E60 and E61... I think it is just carelessnes or ignorance, most owners (and some non-BMW dealers) don't understand the subtle difference of the model codes
3. I went to BMW showroom today and looked at new 3 series Touring... wow, absolutely TINY in the back! Then I looked at the new X5... BIG WOW, what a beast! Still, I'm going to make a bid for the 5 series
Anyway, if I'm in luck, I'll post pics!
CHeers all
PS. Hey GPFarrell budy, if the 5 series is even HALF the fun of my 1990 911 Carrera 4 (964) then I'll be in heaven. I have permenent crease marks in my face from grinning.
