I have just ordered a E61 but I'm having a hard time choosing color (metallic only) so I'm turning to you for guidance in my decision.
Here's how I'm thinking:
- Saph Black, yes! Very beautiful, but I'm not much into washing my car every other day, so...
- Monaco Blue...ohh, even better! But also maybe worse in terms of keeping it clean and scratch free, well more or less...
- Mystic Blue. Well, nice color but it's almost the same as my current SAAB's Cosmic blue.
- Titanium Gray, Well, kinda nice, but nothing to remember..
- Silver Gray. OK, but oh so boring, every BMW I know has this color...but it's easy to keep clean, though.
- Titanium Silver, same as Silver Gray. Maybe a bit too white for my taste.

Oh, did I say that I have decided the interior to be Auburn Dakot and black trim around the windows.
I'll probably go for dark tinted glass also..

Thanks
/J

You have a problem then.

You don't want to spend the time keeping a dark car clean.
You don't want a boring light colour that does not show the dirt.

Better buy a bus pass...................

You're probably right....I might just do that.....nah, don't think so.
Heart says Blue, brain says Black, "work nerve" says Silver.

Back to my original Q: Is Monaco Blue worse than Sapphire Black in terms of scratches etc.?

I think all dark colours, particularly the blues and blacks can be bad for scratch marks.

Since you like blue and black, how about Carbon Black?

Only available with M-option here in Swe.
Monaco Blue is a close as you get to Carbon Black -- I've never seen a Carbon Black "live" but from what I've seen from pics, it looks like very dark blue rather than black!?

You don't need to wash it every other day. You need to wash it at least twice a day! Especially in winter.

Having said that, my E61 Sapphire Black paint (normally seen in mud beige, or salt white) does not seem to suffer unduly from swirls or scratches. Nothing that a good waxing will not take care of. Dents (blasted supermarket trolleys, and the trollops driving them) are very visible, though.

It is all about the reflective index, the better it looks clean, the worse it looks dirty.

High reflective shine is due to the very flat smooth paint/wax surface.

The more it reflects the more any imperfections show up, scratches, dings, swirls.

Life just is not fair, IMO the best looking colour is jet black, but it shows imperfections so much, I just couldn't live with the a) maintainance, b) dirty looking car most of the time.

Great colour for Socal, Arizona etc (if you don't mind the heat) but wet and windy UK.................no chance.

Carbon Black is the colour for you. Under bright light it looks very dark blue.
