Great choice

have to share with people who will appreciate.....my wife just nods and smiles.....
anway ....I just spent all my bonus (not even in my account yet), sold the kids and my wife is available tuesdays and thursdays

jokes aside....its the all new 2008 model 525xd in saphire metallic black, dakota black leather, manual, shadow line (black), premium business pack, 18 inch 124 style rims and a bunch of goodies including DSP logic 7 stereo. In Switzerland we get also 100,000km or 10 (yes TEN) years free servicing whichever is the sooner, so for me that means 5 years of only having to pay for fluids !! Anyway, will repost when it gets here but for now, here is the stock configurator picture.....will sure make a difference from my '92 e34 525ix touring (which is for sale ha ha!!).
Hi, I got my new 525XD Touring Electa , manual, 4 weeks ago. now I have done 3000 km. I am not really satisfied. It is very very silent, very safe, but heavy and slow in reactions.
I guess 200 Cv could be enough...I arrive from a 140cv 4motion passat. Maybe that standard user buy 530, more power and great torque.....

I have 400 of tourque.
But again, the reactions are slow.....I will keep you updated....The engine is still brand new, and i am driving normally.....

is there anyone that tested both 525 and 530 recently?

thanks

Ciao!

Congrats for new car and welcome to forum!

525xd should not be slow compared Passat, but I think that there is nothing wrong with your car. BMW is just so silent and solid car, what you cannot feel the speed or how quickly car accelerates.

That reminds me, when I was a young, I had a testdrive with Fiat Uno Turbo. No car after that has given me a same feeling of speed even though several has been much quicker in reality. A really furious car

Congratulations!

I think 525xd is the smartest buy in whole 5-series for Alpine and Nordic countries. Powerful and economical engine combined with the best available 4wd technology. Amazingly there are not many in this forum, who have ordered one.

I just made a short test drive with 525xdA touring couple weeks ago. The engine lacks refinement of petrol engines but torque is fantastic. You have seleted nice specs, but I would select automatic especially for diesel, where useful torque range is not very wide.

HELLO! Well well, I have quite the same car .
I have driven now 1050km with my 530Xd and have to say with that 500nm don't have to shift that often...Of course it depends how you want to drive, but its very flexible to drive slowly in the traffic. At highway speed its great. 525 is a bit different so can?t say about that.
My point of view is that choosing the manual transmission is a clear choise/opinion, you either love it or take an automatic instead . Now after driving with BMW manual gearbox I wouldn't change it if I had the chance. I just love the firm and accurate "feeling" when changing the gears.

That car is marvellous...for sure you will enjoy

AND THANK YOU ALL OF THIS FORUM! I'm happy to join...
