have to share with people who will appreciate.....my wife just nods and smiles.....
anway ....I just spent all my bonus (not even in my account yet), sold the kids and my wife is available tuesdays and thursdays

jokes aside....its the all new 2008 model 525xd in saphire metallic black, dakota black leather, manual, shadow line (black), premium business pack, 18 inch 124 style rims and a bunch of goodies including DSP logic 7 stereo. In Switzerland we get also 100,000km or 10 (yes TEN) years free servicing whichever is the sooner, so for me that means 5 years of only having to pay for fluids !! Anyway, will repost when it gets here but for now, here is the stock configurator picture.....will sure make a difference from my '92 e34 525ix touring (which is for sale ha ha!!).

Congratulations!

I think 525xd is the smartest buy in whole 5-series for Alpine and Nordic countries. Powerful and economical engine combined with the best available 4wd technology. Amazingly there are not many in this forum, who have ordered one.

I just made a short test drive with 525xdA touring couple weeks ago. The engine lacks refinement of petrol engines but torque is fantastic. You have seleted nice specs, but I would select automatic especially for diesel, where useful torque range is not very wide.

Thanks - this will be my 5'th bimmer working my way from 320 in the 80's, three x E34 tourings these last 10 years, the last 2 were 525ix which is going to be sold soon.... the four wheel drive on the E34 was just fantastic in the snow. I have done serious hill starts in 6 inches of snow and had no problems pulling away....I am expecting great things with this new one.

I have not tried the manual in diesel - only the automatic - I guess it will be a small learning curve for me. The 'sheer driving pleasure' for me doesnt combine too well with my thoughts on an automatic gear box. To get a diesel was already a stretch for me but having driven the new d from BMW....the torque is the winning factor plus I may save a small drop of a swiss glacier from melting whch keeps the wife happy !!!

Like a few others here....I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the week of 5'th may.

... now where have I seen that before

Congrats on the new ride and welcome on board!

I went for the auto with the 3 litre 525d, primarily because I fancied a change and do soooo many miles in heavy / stop & go traffic. I have driven the 325d with a manual gear box and thought it was a great fit. IMHO the power deliver with the current 3 litre diesel still gives a rewarding driving experience with a manual and isn't hard work -- I think you'll be just fine without the auto... enjoy!
