I'm trying to understand the necessity of extending the official BMW warranty.

I've only had the car since December last year so I have only been using the (BMW Used Car) warranty to get a few things sorted that they didn't pick up during the pre-delivery check. So far it was a full engine reset, because it would not go above 240kph... it now hits 260 ... and the reset allowed it to learn my driving style. I thought it was the usual BMW Service bullsh*t, but it worked I also had the sunroof adjusted for less wind-noise.

Not with the E61, but yes with my old E39 Touring.

Passenger front seat air bag sensor failure.

My dear Lemon Car has been in 7 times, which makes it a little more fault prone than the Alfa 156 I had for three lovely years btw 1998-2001. New high score, in other words.

Ohh, I miss my E46 330i Touring 2003. Perfect car for 2 years and 91000 kms. Why did I sell that car?!?

I did around 80tkm under two year warranty. Warranty was needed for:

- rear wheel rollerbearing
- self-levelling system's control unit
- automatic opening tailgate
- engine thermostat

All required new parts. I addition progman was updated during the 2. repair.

Mine is 14 months old and 21000km's. During my ownership (2.5 months) it has already been in one time. SES light came on - a new lambda sensor and new NOx sensors were required.....
