Hi all
Purchased a 545i recently and came with a battery drain problem, during the course of the day the battery would discharge and then the car would not start and the alarm would go off during the day. I have had the alternator checked and it is putting out over 14v and have fitted and coded a brand new 110ah battery.
Have a few other issues like no remote central locking, and CCC constantly rebooting (fixed with another CCC). There was a burnt pin on the rear light, which has been disconnected now, but still the fault in the LM module.
Checked codes with ISTA last night, and below are what came back, along with a few others which seem to be caused by the battery loosing charge.
DME 0027A0: Fan, electronics box - open circuit
LM 009CBC : Short circuit in a lamp unit - short circuit to positive
SINE 009D11 : DWA-data baus - short circuit to batt+
IHKA 00E714 : Message (battery voltage 0x3BE) faulty, receiver IHKA, transmitter
1 of these has got to be causing the drain, but need to work out how to pin point it, and fix all the above.
Anyone?
Thanks in advance

Since you put in a new battery, I would print out all the existing codes. Then clear them and see what comes back.

DME 0027A0: Fan, electronics box - open circuit
The ebox fan is used to cool the engine computer (aka DME). Had to change this on wife's X5 recently. Kind of a pain removing the DME and wires to get to the ebox fan. I would get this changed as it could keep the DME from getting too hot.
LM 009CBC : Short circuit in a lamp unit - short circuit to positive
I suspect there is more in this code itself or more inforamtion available to narrow down what lamp it is talking about. Maybe first try to look at all the exterior and interor lamps in the car to see if one is obsisoulsy not lighting.
SINE 009D11 : DWA-data baus - short circuit to batt+
Don't know this one and Google will probably give you some leads.
IHKA 00E714 : Message (battery voltage 0x3BE) faulty, receiver IHKA, transmitter

Ista didn't show anything further on the short in the light circuit
I put the battery on charge while in the car and noticed that rear right inner side light, and the left reverse light were on faintly and increased in brightness while being charged. Thinking the short could be here somewhere, so once charged up I will do some continuity tests

I took a guess at your model year. You should put in the exact build information to make sure.
