First off to the forums and congrats on the new car

I think the Alpina is a great original choice and would probably try that route if I bought a non M-Sport E61. I agree with Patrick that you it looks best with Alpina (style) rims, however have also seen it done very well in combination with BBS rims. You could also consider OEM style Radial 32. On Ebay you get a lot of 20" Alpina Classic rims from the old 7er and I think you may be able to get those to fit on the E61 if you used spacers -- that would be my first choice at least!

Finally, we doing a Scandinavia Meet in a few weeks time -- check out the link in my signature. Maybe see you there...

Congrats on the new (to you) car and enjoy the forums!! BTW, it's really a win-win situation with either M-tech or Alpina, you cannot go wrong!

+1 Alpina. It would be different. We all have m-sport (orig. or non-orig.) And congrats on the new car.

Marco, got to love your wheels + color

Planning to get 18" Alpinas for my winter tires.

For the sake of completeness, and also because I see that good Alpina pics are not that easy to find, please find below attached an Auto Motor und Sport test of the LCI Alpina B5 vs. the M5 Touring.

It has the LCI front bumper, so not applicable for the OP, but I still find it interesting to show it in this topic. I personally think that the Alpina spoiler works much better with the LCI bumper.

Thanks for sharing. Nice to see images of the car being driven properly -- certainly makes me want to go out and buy one

Although the rims are some of the finest out there, I find they look smaller than they are in comparisson to the OEM 19s. It may be just be on pictures though? I would personally go for a set of 20s. You can get them from the old 7er for around 2000-2500 EUR. Not cheap, but still around the same price as a new set of OEM 19s.

This Alpina B5 with M5 Mirrors always makes me laugh because its effectively taking something from its closest rival, but even though they seem a little out of place, IMHO it does look better

That ALPINA either needs larger wheels, or spacers.

So got the side panels and looking into the front spoiler.. I think that the pre LCI looks nicer..

Some mentioned that the spoiler needed the Alpina wheels. I use my car for + 50.000 km each year so 17" are the biggest because off the tire price and also comfort!

BTW there was a set 19" Alpina on Ebay - sold today!

I will start a new tread with my car and the progress :-)

wow, that auction was a steal!! 1500EUR for a set of Alpina rims with newish tyres -- ok, I don't like that particular brand of tyres, but still, someone just got themselves a very good deal.

Looking forward to seeing pics of your car...

ps. The OEM type Radial 32, which is effectively the Alpina style, could be a good alternative. They come as an 18" rim for the E60/E61.
