My Dad owns a 2004 E61 with "professional navigation", hes located in Warsaw/Poland
As far as I know BMW did not launch a map for eastern europe for this navigation system.
Hes got the car for almost 4 years now and he cant use the damn navigation system in Poland. As soon as he goes abroad the maps work fine.
Im thinking of buying a 2005 E60 545i myself and frankly, Im having second thoughts to go for a Mercedes E500 instead.
I mean how screwed up is that...4 years without a damn map, is this realy true ?
Hope someone can give me some input on that, thanks in advance.

Poland is not even on the 2008-1 maps. So I wouldn't buy the Navigation system if I were you.

Bastards...this is realy degrading. After hearing something like that I wish I had the money to get a new Mercedes E63 AMG and smoke You all to pieces. As far as I know, Mercedes provides maps for Poland for years.

But seriously...anyone know the reason for this ?
Poland has been in the EU fore quite some time now and we got electricity and even internet too...

Even if there was a map available for Poland by BMW, it would contain only Warsaw and the basic national roads.

In the first version of the Greek map (Nav pro 2006-01) there was only Athens and national roads in it. In 2007-01 map they added Salonica and now on 2008-01 there are also the very basic 3-4 streets of another 7-8 big cities.

My friend had a 2000 BMW 540i and the navigation worked perfect in this car in Poland.
Even the smallest villages were on the map and it was all very percise.
How come they dont make maps for the newer BMW models?
I mean what is the reason for this, I truly dont get it...

Low sales in our countries. In Greece 2/3 of the existing E60s are imported from Germany (like mine and all my "E60 mates" here) and most of them are Nav equipped.

BMW company will never get to know that those cars may have been registered in Germany, but they are running on Greek roads...

The local BMW management chose not to include navigation in the cars sold by authorised dealers (they have 2 E60 versions you can choose from: the "comfort" with cloth upholstery and no extras and the "exclusive" with semi-electric leather heated seats, sunroof, adaptive headlights and PDC) and so, to get competitive prices against MB which they are cheaper, plus equipped with very many extras, while BMWs are sold with poor equipment. (except very little "special order" sales, individual etc)

Are you sure about this? Your friend was not using a 3rd party map data e.g. a Navteq CD in the BMW system. Because BMW have never had Poland on their map DVD.

Yes, E39, E38 with MK-III and MK-IV have Eastern Europe CD. In this CD is Lithuania too. Poland is detailed.
In this December I was going (bought from german dealer) with new Audi Q7 home to Lithuania. There was Navteq DVD disk (Europe navigation, not special
Eastern Europe edition). There are detailed villages of Poland (suprised) and main cities and roads of Lithuania.

OK thats what I thought. The BMW DVD version has never had Poland but I am aware that the multiple CD version had.

I'm also waiting for a dvd-version that inludes Poland, i have plans to visit that country this year. But as for now, i would have to buy a new roadmap, before i enter the Polish border. Maybe i should cover my screen, when i'm over there, so nobody will mock with my expensive navi-pro.
