E61 tailgate switch removal help
After reading many posts and many hours work have managed to repair all 4 looms over the rear hinges and get all electrics working again. ;-)
Finally came to replace the tailgate switch and got the wiper off and the large lock-nut off but when I tried to remove the old switch it came off partially in a large number of pieces. The wiper is really stiff so I believe there may be "world of gunk" in the bearing etc.
I now have part of the old switch body still on a shaft, a wiper arm that is really stiff and I can't remove the pivot mechanism back into the car.
I attach a picture of what is left of the plastic and the wiper pivot.
I am stuck now as the new switch assy wont fit onto the arm and am not sure how to proceed.
Appreciate any comments.
Phil

Is there not a large circlip holding it in place? (as I remember) right at the bottom of the shaft.
Soak with WD 40 and a lot of effort,

Those dorks at Scribd force you to register to download it, so I just found the PDF somewhere else, and here's another guide also posted by someone else. Cheers.
