In the latest issue of Roundel, reference was made to the soft-close feature of the E61 automatic tailgate. Mine has always slammed itself shut. Before I talk to the dealer about it, I was wondering if everybody else's slams or soft-closes. My neighbor's Lexus RX330 has always closed silently so I've been suspicious of mine for a long time. Thanks in advance.

The chioce is yours, either slam it shut or if you want soft close, lower it gently and give it a gentle push, it will do the rest on it's own

I tend to use the soft close......................gives the dog time to get his tail out of the way !!

Soft close, one of the really cool features of the 5.

If you are refering to the automatic closing rear door, mine slams shut as well. I don't like it.
