Especially if lowering 40mm you'll want to get an alignment. If you don't you'll wear our the inner tires in short order.
With INPA/ISTA you measure the axle center to fender lip, then add (I think) the height you want to drop so it now thinks the actual measurement is higher than the sensor height reported value thus lowering to the height you want. Easier than fiddling with linkage adjustments.
