E61 panorama sunroof issues
If the rear drain valves are clogged, then no matter how many times they fix the roof, the water will always get into the trunk!

Yeap...they check that evry time it goes in, and specificly aske them if they check them.
Also It had all the Electrical bits mode per the BMW TSB and they even went as far as putting the new 1 way drain in the bottem of the tire well from the Sedans ( imgine that they are also having unfixable flooding ? who would have thought?), but the last to leaks would have nothing to do with the Tire well area.

My Ride: 2007 530xiT: CPO purchase in 2008, used by a BMW exec previously, and like-new when I got it. Compared to my other cars, at first I thought it felt heavy and steering was too heavy. Now, I really enjoy driving it in town and on the freeway. On my
bigbadbull, in this DIY I did re the drains, pictures 7 and 9 are about getting to the drain tube which is inside the car and just about to exit out to the bumper area. is it wet there? if so, would indicate leaking tube or leak before the tube

My wife said that she had even forgot we had a 5 any more, and she did not really miss it.

Thanks TFH - your instructions worked perfectly. I'd paid £100 to a BMW specialist to try to find a way to get the back section of the sunroof to work again. Their conclusion was they'd need another 4 hours to remove roof lining etc to inspect the full workings ... and even then they may need to replace full mechanism at £1500++. I asked if they couldn't just disable the rear part - they said no. I then found your solution and followed your instructions. I used a small hacksaw blade to make the cuts. Only comment to add was that I had to force one of the guides along a bit to line up with the gap in the rail so it could be removed. This fix has saved me a LOT of money (I needed to fix the roof to sell the car) so I'm going to make a donation to teenage cancer charity as thanks.
guys,
I posted before, I had exactly same issue and it was down to the switch. my roof would almost close and open again from vent mode.I would not think it could be the switch before, cos it seemed work fine, whatever way I moved/pushed the switch. disabling anti trap function (disconnect and reconnect roof switch) should work too. anyway, swapped roof switch from e39 (I got e61) (e39`s they don't even have panoramic roof)initialize (hold the button in for 75 seconds) and job done.
all functions working fine!
