I had water ingress into the rear wheel well, and flooded all the modules back there... I picked up a moonroof module out of a 6 series. The problems now are, Sunsheild will not fully open, moonroof will not open, roof does vent, but does not fully close after venting. I tried the reset procedure multiple times, and the glass never opens. And always never fully closes after venting.
do I need this module coded to the car? The 6 series only vents, and does not open. Realoem shows this module as compatible....

Was it the same part number as the old one? I imagine it needs to be coded. The E61 moonroof definitely has different options than a 6 series has (for example, tilting the glass up while the sun shade is closed, having two open positions, full and partial, with an initial stop at a partial opening). I'm sure it would need to be coded to your car.

It's doubtful that coding it will make it work, but you could give it a shot. You most likely need to get the same module version as your car had.
