We have the same interior combo and it looks great. When I saw the first pics of the LCI auto shifter I was really disappointed with the black plastic filler panel under the shifter, but once you see it in person it actually looks good with the brushed alu and black leather.... the shape of the panel fits in with the "flow" of the interior design.

I've also been questioning the black filler, good to hear that you like it. I've not got the car yet. Will have to wait until Monday.BTW. Your Space Gray E60 looks great!
