Hi folks,

My wife's '06 530xi has a really weak battery, and I'd like to just replace it. I looked through the manual and couldn't find the location of the battery, though I'm fairly certain it's in the trunk somewhere (beneath the floor maybe)? A quick look through the back didn't reveal much and she had to go, so it's not in the driveway so I can look. Can someone tell me where the battery lives? It's a pretty ridiculous question, so I apologize, but it's also pretty ridiculous that BMW doesn't just print in in the manual.

Thanks!

The battery is located on the right hand side benath the trunkfloor.
When you take the cover off on the right wall, where the fuses are, you
will get access to open a few screws on the bottom and take the plastic cover out. There it is.

I will interested to see how you do. Are you replacing with another 'BMW" battery?

I am going to start another thread regarding the battery for the E60, specifically the 'IBS' (intellegent battery system).

I am currently having a problem with the battery, and the service department has stated that it is because an aftermarket amplifier is drawing power that the IBS is not seeing.

Bottom line, I would be interested in information from others on the Forum who have successfully replaced either BMW or non-BMW batteries.
