I've been reading many of the posts that are provided on audio upgrades. I can see why BMW US doesn't offer the standard audio system here in the UK as its total crap. I take delivery of a 3000mile 535d Touring on Tuesday.

Here is what I am planning. I also plan to get an audio installer to do this work:

All round MB Quart RVF 210. Front and rear - I want the sound to be as good as the H-K system in my M3, which I think is excellent considering it costs 600quid!

Now at the front I think I can install the tweeter in the corner area next to the mirror (the HK system on my M3 has this) and the speaker in the door panel - is this ok?

The rear is the problem though. Where are the speakers? Is there are place where the tweeter can be installed. I +realy+ do not want to cut any panels. Do the upgraded audio options (stock US and L7) have seperate tweeters in the rear? If so is the panel available that could just be swapped over?

It looks like there is only one choice on the subs under the front seats which is the Earthquake SWS-8 speakers. Anyone know of a UK source for these?

Finally comes the amplifier. I have decided to purchase the JL Audio JLCL441DSP Clean Sweep to take the speaker line in and also a JL audio amplifier to drive the speakers. I was looking at JL Audio JL500/5 but its very pricey. Can anyone recommend an AMP that is suitable?

Here's what I've learned:
Possible front speaker locations and types are:
Center on dash(Midrange:Logic7), front doors(Midrange:All) and adjacent to side mirrors(tweeters: HiFi, Logic7).
Rear speakers on E61 are located under speaker grilles in the roof (Mid:LoFi + tweeters:HiFi, Logic7) and in the back doors (Mid:All).
Subs under front seats (All - but a lot better elements w HiFi and Logic7. Also better and more amps).

I think BMW build the cars with all the grilles but only fill them with speaker elements depending on OEM stereo version - LoFi, Hi-Fi or Logic7.
