I have a E60 Tourer which is having problems with the ariel reception for radio. It seems to fade in/out and lost its actual station names and just has the numbers now. The cd has no problems. Where is the ariel located on this car?
Anyone help?

Welcome to the forum, a great place to learn and share your passion.
Do you mean "aerial", i.e. antenna? Perhaps a bad wire in the hatch; the wires are not protected well and tend to be worn/severed over time. I'm not totally sure that's it, but try to search on "tailgate wiring" within the forum.

rbrtsnf, search for "Diversity Module" or "Diversity Amplifier" in the Forums and then for "BMW dismantlers" on google and all your reception problems will be solved ![Thumbsup](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/thumbsup.gif)
Hint: your reception amplifier, located under the spoiler at the top of the tailgate, is most probably flooded/gone, and the replacement is rather expensive from BMW.

I had the same problem as the OP and whilst the diversity unit was water logged and replaced under warranty (greatly improving my remote range) the problem with the radio reception ultimately proved to be the cable break referred to in the first reply.
