I'm a newbie in the forum. Owner of a 530 Touring -05.

Just changed my tyres from original Dunlop to Continental, 245x40/18, but it seems they make a lot of noise. Anyone heard (!) something like this before?
According to the tyre dealer, he agrees with me that they are noisy, but Continental isn't aware of any problems regarding these tyres. I'm wondering, continental tyres just isn't compatible with BMW?

besides, I also have problems with the sun roof, wind noise...

Continental is a brand that is OEM on some BMW's, my wife's 02 3 series for example. I have never heard of the noise problem you describe being an intrinsic characteristic of the tire. I do know I talked my wife into replacing her Conti's w/ Pole Positions and they are crazy a@s loud!

Welcome to the forum - and good choice of car.

Suggest you do a search on the forum (this section and the E60 section), as

(a) there has been a huge amount on tyres - particularly the pros and cons of runflats (are the Continentals run-flats?)

(b) there have been quite a few on sunroofs and windnoise

The good news is that you can get great tyres, and when properly sorted the panoramic sunroof is great and low windnoise when closed (though I amongst others had rattles which caused it to be replaced)

Good luck

Very interesting thread Fhedvall, and welcome to the Forum.

Most say, that changing from RF Dunlops to non-RF tyres is a big improvement.

Are your new Conties RF-tyres?
2's or are they 3's?

The sunroof is of course a source of noice.

SportContact 2 SSR, Run Flat of course.
Interestingly enough is that they weren't noisy to start with, I first noticed it when going flat out on Autobahn, as well as the sun roof.
The noise from the sun roof suddenly appeard after 1,5 yrs...

OK, the RF Dunlops are not that noicy nor the RF Bridgestone Potenzas (based on a testdive with a E92 335i).

I used to have Conties on my E46 coup?s and the noice was there.

Do not drive much faster than 140 km/h over here.

Wonderful news. My tyre dealer today replaced the noisy Conti's with brand new Dunlop. The noise is gone!
Meanwhile, I used up the rear tyres somewhat...
