Hi, My first post on the site, since I bought my first BMW, a 545i E61, so far so good!
Noticed that the front cigarette lighter isnt working. Checked both the fuses indicated on the fuse diagram and they are both fine.
From pictures I`ve seen there is a multiplug just beneath the ashtray connenting the unit to the wiring loom which is my next check, but the problem is I dont know how to get at it.
I have the automatic model, and guess I need to remove the greaknob, iDrive wheel, menu button and then lift the wood effect cover to gain access?
Can anyone give me a step by step guide of how to do this so I dont end up snapping clips etc? Hopefully the multiplug has come apart, but if not any ideas?

many thanks

Jeff

Hello Mate,

Not sure but check if this will help?

Tell me, how's the fuel consumption per 100km urban type of driving?

Good luck and welcome to the Forum!

Hi, most of my driving is urban, and I`m getting approx. 20mpg, on a run at 70/80 mph its about 25 mpg. Not brilliant but worth it just for the exhaust tone when you squeeze the pedal a little more than normal!! Performance is amazing in "Drive", great in "Sport" and awesome in "Manual", you have to try one!

My cigarette lighter isn't working either...I don't need it except to power phone, etc. but would like to get it working again.

In the meantime, try the other outlet in the passenger footwell, upper left hand corner. I used a flashlight to find it.

Another reason why it sucks to be driving on the wrong side of the road!

Good call...I went and checked it and it doesn't work either...I think there might be a wiring issue with the two in the front. I've been using the one in the back of the center console.

Did you actually replace the fuse? I had the same problem and fuse replacement fixed the issue.

I replaced fuse #87 in trunk and solved my lighter issue.
