Hi All,

Just a quick question. Does anyone have any experience with Chip tuning?
I just bought a end-05 E61 525d. Great car, good engine however compared to my previous car (alfa Romeo 166 2.4JTD) I'm missing a bit of power at the lower RPM's. Then it suddenly picks up (probably at a certain rev: 1100-1200)
Is there a way to distribute the power so that it's available throughout the RPM range?
I'm thinking of chip tuning but maybe there are other solutions? Also in case of chip tuning it would need to be one that works, doesn't damage the engine, maybe makes the car more economical and of course isn't ridiculously expensive.

Thanks for any suggestions

I had DMS remap my E61535d last Friday. Difference is "amazing" and if I could lift my foot a little I guess economy might be a little better. Engine seems smoother and torque is just endless. Go for it.

You can really see the added horse power!Chip Tuning 2005 525d Touring-more_horsepower.jpg

haha, I bet you've been waiting for a question like mine so you would be able to use that picture.

ok so can you share more detail what a remap does and if I have to go to the dealer to get it done (and is it costly?)

Thanks!

Bertolli

Have a look at this link and scroll down to Andy545. The explanation is pretty clear, as well as BMW's view on warranty invalidation.

http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=...mp;hl=remapping

I had mine done by DMS as they have a good reputation and it was convenient for me although they do travel. I'm sure other Forum members have had plenty of other firms remap their cars and perhaps a little cheaper. If you "pm" me I'll tell you what I paid. Only wish I had had it done ages ago."

One other point I have picked up from the Forum is that if you have a CIP update it wipes the remap. DMS will redo it free. I had a CIP uodate earlier inthe week to have the IPOD MOST fitted.

Regards
Guy

All

thanks for your replies. So I guess the trick is to find one with the best value for money (and then feedback of users who actuall did the remapping).
I take it the companies that offer it give some guarantee that for example the car will pass it's emmision test during the yearly MOT ?
