change interiour woodtrim to Alu Cube Pure trim

Hi, I have find a set of Alu Cube Pure trim and gonna change my wood trim to that.
On BMW:s homepage here in sweden it says that if you change from wood to aluminum trims you also need to
change the over and underpieces of the doorhandle, anyone that have done this operation and can tell me if that really is necessary to make the alutrims to fit?
If so, what is the difference between the doorhandles that has wood trim and the handles with Alu?
My car is a 2004 525 E61.
