The central locking/tailgate remote features are no longer working on my 2006 530xiT. I checked all of the fuses which and they are fine. Inside, I am able to use the dash buttons to lock/unlock the doors as well as open the tailgate however both remote functions with both keys are out.
Thanks for any thoughts!

Hi,
The wires running through and near the rear tailgate hinge become brittle and corrode after time caused by the action of lifting the doors up and down. The wires in question are the ones on the right hand hinge of the smaller glass door.
I had exactly the same problem as you and decided to have a go at fixing it myself, found three broken wires, replaced the perished sections of wire and now she works perfectly
If you search these forums I'm sure there is an explanation of how to do it somwhere.
Cheers

More likely the diversity antenna than broken wiring if the locks are still working from inside the car. Water gets into it and over time the range reduces until the remotes no longer work at all. Its located under the rear spoiler if you want to have a look at it.

I had the same problem on mine stopped working from one day to the next. No intermittent issues just stopped.
As others have mentioned the problem was caused by a corroded board and also had an electrical issue a few months later (was the actual wiring loom that had corroded wires). All was covered by the CPO warranty so I'm guessing it should be for you as well.
