I just became the proud owner of a 2008 535xi M-sport Touring. The previous owner either removed the roof rails or opted out when purchasing. I want to use this car for utilitarian purposes on occasion. While bikes and ski equipment will fit inside the canoe will not.

So if anyone who has gone to the trouble to remove their roof rails would like to sell them to me, please let me know

I do agree, however, that the lines of the car are sharper without the roof rails, so does anyone know if it is possible to add a conventional clamp-on roof rack base system? I would think that the front bar for a sedan would fit, but the slope of the rear door frame is very different on an e60. I may just go to the local roof rack shop to see if I can find something that will fit, but thought I would check with this forum to see if anyone has already blazed this trail.

Thanks!

It turns out base feet are available for the Touring without roof rails from several manufacturers...

Do you have a photo of the touring sans rails?
