Hello BW535xiT...

Are the list of parts only needed because you have LCI model?
Will a pre-LCI car need less parts?

Thank you!

(This is Tischer's pricing, BTW)

Installation in Northern VA at a very high end body shop cost me about $2000. This is a beautiful kit and there were reportedly no gotchas during installation, but you need to be prepared to shell out some unexpected coin for it.

I'm in to mine for just over $5,500 including ALL parts, shipping, paint and install. Well worth it - very sharp looking.

I have heard mixed reports on Dinan's ECU flash upgrades. One thing to consider is that BMW will NOT cover your vehicle once the Dinan software is installed. Dinan covers what they void on the BMW warranty, so you are essentially purchasing an external Dinan warranty to cover your Dinan software.

For now I think I will stick with a stock setup to see if any engine or HPFP problems rear their ugly heads. Once I do take the plunge, I'm leaning toward the Juicebox 3 ($579) http://www.burgertuning.com/jb3.htm. Partial reasoning is that if the car goes in for service you can initialize Map 0 and set your car back to stock, avoiding detection of any aftermarket tuning and subsequent voiding of your factory warranty

Best of luck!

That's an interesting question. I'd contact Anthony at Bekkers.com to see what advice he can offer.

Jon,

Took delivery of my 535Xi wagon Feb 2008, installed Dinan s/w Apr 2008. Have 32K on now, still under warranty and it is a flipping blast!

If possible, try to find a Dinan shop located in a BMW dealer. I have 4 BMW dealers in NJ within 25 miles, but drive 50 to the one who handles Dinan. If there are any issues, they get worked out much better. My "local" BMW dealer put in writing (per the regional BMW service rep) that if I reinstalled the Dinan s/w it would void the warranty. Steven Dinan had a field day with that!

MY HPFP was replaced May 2010 after 3 rounds and 6 months of fault codes and reprograming the car 8 times (4 BMW,4 Dinan) at no charge - just several days of hassle. If you have Dinan s/w on the car, ANYTIME you take it to BMW for service tell then NOT to reporgram the car if at all possible. I would bet there will be future problems with the HPFP and the turbo wastegate - but the HPFP is under warranty and the car is so much fun, I'll take the chance.

Do not bother buying a certified car if you plan on installing the Dinan s/w since that will void the certfication (so I have been told by Dinan)

GO for it!

Sounds like my experience exactly although fixed my HPFP problem on the first go round. I think BMWNA is getting a little touchy on the subject as there is a class action law suit against them for this problem. Really don't understand why as I'm pretty certain that all the cars with the problem would still be under factory warranty. YMMV

The question in my mind is how does BMW qualify the extend coverage? If you get a code and the car is out of the basic 3 year coverage will they say the fuel injector is not the fuel and therefore you are not covered? At 24,000 they reprogrammed and changed my plugs because i was starting to get extend crank time. Normally the plugs would last much longer, if the plugs need to be changed at 48,000 I don't think BMW will pay for it, yet it all seems to tied to the fuel system problem?

I installed Dinan Stage II S/W in my 535XiT in April 08 1 month after I picked it up new. The *only* reason I put Dinan s/w on a new $60K car was that is would NOT void the factory warranty and their close relationship with BMW - which no other s/w company has.

You are absolutely wrong in your statement that "BMW will NOT cover your vehicle once the Dinan software is installed." If you heard this from your dealer, he is wrong and you should get it in writing and send to Steve Dinan - when it happened to me once, I did get it in writing and Steve contacted BMW directly. I have never paid anything out of my pocket for warranty repairs - including the HPFP.

I now go to a BMW dealer that sells and installs Dinan products - there is ablosutely no issue with this dealer covering anything under the 4 year, 50,000 mile BMW factory warranty.

See the rest of the sentence... "Dinan covers what they void on the BMW warranty, so you are essentially purchasing an external Dinan warranty to cover your Dinan software."

The BMW center and technicians may perform the Dinan work, but BMWNA will not cover any problems introduced by Dinan software. Dinan will cover the gap left and fix anything they break. It's a seamless process handled on the back end that the customer probaby isn't even aware of - their car is just fixed on site. At least that's how they explained it to me at Dinan's Mountain View, CA shop a few years ago.
