Thanks everyone for the responses! There's a lot of good information here and it's definitely helping with my decision. I really do like the 535xiT and I'd love to buy one with the idea of keeping it for the long haul. I guess we'll see, I'll keep you guys updated...

You can also buy an aftermarket m5Tech package like the one we sell (stay tuned for pictures of it installed in about 3 days).
We too were in this situation and chose to go with it anyways, the HPFP issue is indeed a headache, but it's just one of those things that doesn't detract from the overall experience of the car too too much.

Picked up my 08 535xiT in Feb with 35k miles on it, was thinking of doing all you mentioned. Its now mid-Sept, and haven't done a thing. Can't wait to see what Um-nitza does with the body kit on the wagon, cause as others have mentioned a post LCI [2008+] wagon needs more than $1000 in additional parts to get the OEM BMW M-tech body kit to fit. You can buy aftermarket front and skirts, but the rear bumber on a wagon is different than the sedan, and til now, no aftermarket guys make a rear an M-Tech style rear bumber for the wagon cause there is not enough demand :-(
The Dinan kit is great cause it won't void the warranty, but there are cheap options out that that give the same performance improvement, like the Juicebox.
Not to scare you on the HPFP, cause I've heard some people have had NO PROBLEMS at all, ever. But me, my car has been in the shop 5 times with the dreaded 'Engine Malfunction. Reduced Power' light. They have changed both the high pressure and low pressure pumps, all 6 injectors and sparks plugs, some twice. Each time it was in the shop was there for at least 5 days.
Another concern, which you may not have heard, pano sunroof leaks and fries the eletronics stored under the spare tire. Shop foreman drove the car home to road test it, left it out over night in heavy rain I guess, cause I saw on my invoice that they replaced tons of components [gratis thankfully] like nav system, sat radio, etc, etc. If you search some threads you'll see some people have had to pay as much as $8,000 out of pocket when this happens cause even tho its a design flaw, BMW won't own up to it.

Well, we have the front done, just need time to figure out the mirrors and the side skirts, but the front is a super easy swap.

Talked to the factory, this is not happening, so only OEM is the option here

Stay tuned for a review once we fix some of the weirdo computer glitch limp-mode faults we've had (2 so far).

Lovely
What codes did it read off, do you know?

Have that as well. Probably need to fix that off line

Looking at my last invoice from June, says it threw the following code: D1110_B0000000_72_912
Based on that they replaced an injector.
BTW - had asked Garry@Newport about the cost of OEM M-Tech rear and all the bits; $1307 if you have PDC....DOH!

24,000 miles and still no major issues.
Took the car in for service and they found a coolant leak at one of the turbos, which they fixed.
With regard to the reduce power issue they change the spark plugs because the cold crank time since it was getting noticeable and they also did a software update.
My adviser said that they (BMW) think that the fuel pump issue is related to software.
They also fixed the front windows which were making a rubbing noise when cold. Adviser said that a bulletin with was out that problem
They also did normal two year service such as oil & brake fluid and filters.
The service was great and the car is running great.
I looked at the 5 Hatch Back and think the cargo space is very small. The new car is heavy and ugly think I will buy my car at lease end.
The car is running great and has never failed me.

Here is the *REAL* OEM Aero kit breakdown. Everywhere will advertise the basic kit then get you with the additional parts once you're hooked
1 51710429412 M-Aero kit $1,409.60 $1,409.60 (side skirts, F&R bumper, etc)
1 66546962500 Bracket, night vision camera $83.90 $83.90
2 66316774678 Bracket for sensor, SRR $3.86 $7.72
1 66316777310 Bracket for sensor, LRR $10.94 $10.94
4 66200306567 Ultrasonic-sensor CODE UNI/MET $168.95 $675.80
4 66200309540 Ultrasonic-sensor CODE UNI/MET $168.95 $675.80
2 61120306586 Wiring harness, adapter $3.20 $6.40
1 61120416440 Extension cable $15.02 $15.02
1 61126928362 Set of cables, front bumper $40.42 $40.42
1 61126928366 Set of cables, rear bumper $40.42 $40.42
1 61129122282 Wiring set $71.84 $71.84
1 51718040807 Air duct front bottom M $57.34 $57.34
1 51718041999 Air duct front left M $53.54 $53.54
1 51718042000 Air duct front right M $53.54 $53.54
1 51117033705 Support, side panel front left $9.62 $9.62
1 51117033706 Support, side panel front right $9.62 $9.62
1 51117148585 Carrier, bumper front $272.34 $272.34
1 51117896591 Shock absorber front left M $27.56 $27.56
1 51117896592 Shock absorber front right M $27.56 $27.56
$2,139.38 in additional parts
$3,548.98 TOTAL
(This is Tischer's pricing, BTW)
Installation in Northern VA at a very high end body shop cost me about $2000. This is a beautiful kit and there were reportedly no gotchas during installation, but you need to be prepared to shell out some unexpected coin for it.
I'm in to mine for just over $5,500 including ALL parts, shipping, paint and install. Well worth it - very sharp looking.
I have heard mixed reports on Dinan's ECU flash upgrades. One thing to consider is that BMW will NOT cover your vehicle once the Dinan software is installed. Dinan covers what they void on the BMW warranty, so you are essentially purchasing an external Dinan warranty to cover your Dinan software.
For now I think I will stick with a stock setup to see if any engine or HPFP problems rear their ugly heads. Once I do take the plunge, I'm leaning toward the Juicebox 3 ($579) http://www.burgertuning.com/jb3.htm. Partial reasoning is that if the car goes in for service you can initialize Map 0 and set your car back to stock, avoiding detection of any aftermarket tuning and subsequent voiding of your factory warranty
Best of luck!

Your experience with M Kit pricing mirrors mine fairly close as I had mine installed by the BMW dealer when purchased new. Added Dinan software at the same time and have not had issues with it. Recently did have the HPFP problem which BMW replaced under warranty and as the engine had to be reflashed to stock they then reflashed the Dinan software. There were NO additional costs or even discussions about who pays for what. I use a Penske dealer and yours may have a different policy. Mine was totally no hassle.
