This is great info! I am going to give this a try, and will report back. I do believe however that you will still need all of the pre LCI stuff that goes behind the bumper covers. That being said, not having to buy new sensors and harnesses will save about $1,500.

Janfrb, 355dreamer or anybody else who has moved PDC sensors from stock LCI car to OEM BMW M-Tech bumper covers,

could you confirm that the stock PDC sensor holders are attached to the stock bumper cover with a double-sided tape and therefore are easy to remove and reuse? Has anybody actually done this?

If so, then could you also confirm I could reuse my stock PDC wiring harnesses (Front and rear) ?

It would sway my choice toward OEM kit right away since I'd be saving about $1500 on additional parts here:

11 61-12-9-122-282 WIRING SET 1 1 87.39 87.39 S 22 - anybody knows what this part is for?

I haven't gotten around to doing it yet. My body shop isn't too confident in this method.

I also recall that the sensor wires for the MTech kit are longer and need to be replaced. Can anyone confirm?

Oh, they are not...

Well, I will be doing the install myself, except painting, so I feel pretty confident except I need to clear out the PDC holder mounting
And I was removing my rear bumper cover a few weeks ago to straighten out 2 PDC sensors (they were pushed in a little) and totally forgot to look at the holder mounting

Not sure why the PDC wires have to be longer since overall shape of M-tech bumpers and PDC sensor locations are the same.
But if I have to I do not mind working with soldering iron to extend those wires myself, there is no magic there, unless some one says "this may void your warranty"?

Well, even if we have to get M-tech wires, it is still much cheaper than getting a set of M-tech PDC sensors.
Could anybody confirm the above please?

Thanks for the update, please keep us posted, and please push your body shop to get this project started already!

After posting this question on 3 forums I have no reply
After extensive searching on google and forums, there is still hope that some 5ers have their PDC holders attached with double tape and therefore they are reusable.
Here is some pics for 545 MY2005 : linky

Worst case scenario - I will have to remove my bumper cover and take a look inside.
Will wait for a couple of weeks though and see if anybody chimes in here.

I just fell in this trap myself. Bodyshop owner said fabricating spacers to make the smaller PDC sensors fit could be done but would not look nice. Got a view of the OEM Mtech bumper after it was painted and it looked BEAUTIFUL. I'm sure the completed install will help me feel a little better about paying the extra $$$ for the new sensors and hopefully I can recoup some of the extra cost by selling the old ones.

I'll check out the PDC holders the next time I visit the body shop in a few days to see if they are held together by d/s tape.

For anyone else looking for pre-LCI PDC sensors, the cheapest place I found was www.parts.com. They JACK you on the shipping, but the overall cost is still lower by more than $100 compared to any competitor.
