It would be most beneficial and much appreciated if you could take some pics of the mod whilst doing it and also give an overview of the DIY, so other members could benefit from it in the future.
Good luck

Hello bmWay,

I donīt remember receiving your contact but let me see if i can help you out.

Removing the roof rails is easy, altough it requires some time and pacience!

You have to remove the pillar A, B and C covers. I did not unplug the battery, so i just removed the pillars carefully. Remove the little plastic piece on the A pillar. The one that says"Airbag". Underneath you find a screw. Unscrew it and remove the pillar cover.

The B - pillar i donīt recall if it had any screw.

The C - Pillar will be out after pulling the cover.

Then you have to remove all the triming on the headliner, and unplug everything that is electric (welcome lights and so on),

remove the plastic moulder at the trunk, so you can slide the headliner out.

After removing the pillar covers, unplugging the welcome light conectors, plastic molder at the trunk (the upper one), the sun visors (i think it it written like this) which are hold by a screw, you will be able to slide the headliner out.

If you have sunroof, just open it. There is no need to remove the sunroof liner.

After removing/sliding the headliner, just unscrew the 3 bolts of each rail. They will come out easily!

But be sure to buy the plastic profiles, for E61īs without rails first!!

Or you will be left with profiles with 3 holes!

Then you just have to repeat the job, but to put everything back in place!

It is a straight forward job. With one or 2 friends and a couple of cold beers is done quite easily!!

I hope i īve been somewhat helpful!!

Great PITA anyway!!

Now I know why I didn't order this thing

I am sorry but you donīt have to touch the sunroof...or the sunroofīs liner...just open it...

Hello Mate!

Thanks a lot, now i have it all infront of my eye's will deffinetely do it with some help, two heads always better than one!
That's big help! I am glad that i do not have to touch the sliding roof, but by doing this job i think it will give me a chance to lubricate the liner for sliding roof properly, with some oil, i hear that this is a week point.
I heard that you sold your E61, right? Well to be honest mine will look soon liek yours, on your signature picture, i got same rims and same dark grey colour. Today bought M front bumper, for a amazing price (with soem scratches) for 70euro! It's empty, will need to buy missing grills any idea how much they cost? None could i find on Ebay
Now bidding for rear bumper, and skirts more rare... given some time wil get then. Because the bumbers in different colour, will do all my jobs in summer, so pictures of you "sister" looking E61 will come summer time.
How is your new BMW?

Thanks again.

Hello!

I do believe that i wrote the most important issues, but if you lack some information, donīt hesitate to ask!
Altough i believe that you will find the job pretty much straight forward.

I did not heard about the week point on the sunroof! But i guess you might aswell lubricate it as you are doing that work on the roof!

Your E61 will look a "million bucks" with those mods!

The worst thing about living in Portugal is that you donīt have the chance to mod anything without spending a lot of money!

My new BMW is doing great. It is a tottaly different car from the E61! I enjoy very much driving it! And i confesse that i missed the gas engines!!!!

Iīve done some mods already such as 19" Breyton wheels, ACS foot rest, and some other minor things!
But iīm still thinking about lower it or not!

Hi !

So now you drive E92? 335i? Nice mate, any pictures? it's quite a big change from Touring into Coupe, got tired of it? Consumption goes up isn't?
I had opposite, had a Mercedes Benz, w124 3.0i, manual (Cosswort) gear box, Sportline, silver coupe... great car. Then Family had to go for Touring
So, once i do all the changes, should be good agree!!!
May i ask, if you know where to buy the front M bumper components?

Enjoy your new ride!

Hello,

Yes i have changed from the E61 to the E92.
It is a really nice car to drive! Altough it is not as confortable as the E61, i like it more!
Itīs a smaller car, and so more sporty!

It is really really fast and the consumption is pretty much the same!

The Benz you had was a great car!! I believe that i would not sell it!
I could buy the E61, but i would not sell the Merk!

As for the M components, try ebay! There are cheap and reliable sellers!
