First off, I apologize if this topic already has been discussed (and if I come off as a newbie, since I am). I couldn't get any relevant search results.

Anyway, I recently picked up a CPO 2009 535i xDrive and for some reason the badge on the tailgate reads "535xi." To my understanding for 2009+ models, it should just be "535i."

All the documents from BMW have "535i xDrive." Called the Sales Consultant to ask him about it, and he just said "BMW does some crazy things sometimes."

Maybe I'm just being a worry wort and shouldn't make this an issue, but I just found this odd.

Thanks in advance.

The AWD 535 wagons were 535XI at one point for badging and then I think for MY 2009 onwards became 535i X drive. Just different names for same car though. If the esthetics really matter to you, for $20 you can get yourself a new badge probably. But who cares? I debadge my cars usually, so I don't even care what it says! LOL!

Enjoy your new ride, and why don't you post up some pics of your ride / describe it at least?

I think your car is probably a cut-and-shut. You've got the front half from a modern car and the back half from an older one.

Or someone's stuck the wrong badge on.

Thanks for the responses.

I was just being worried beyond the aesthetics and only thinking the worst of what could have happened to the wagon in the past that wasn't shown in the history, such as what Kell initially mentioned.

I'm past that now. I always debadge my cars, and this one will be no exception.

Pictures will be taken this weekend...hopefully. Although, it's still bone stock

swagon - have BMW to check the production date - that will tell you whether your car is an "XI" or and "I xDrive".
