Default 2006 BMW 530xi Wagon Rear Hatch door gap / misaligned

Hi,
Just got a 2006 BMW 530xi Wagon.
The automatic rear hatch door opens and closes as it should on its own, but for some reason a gap remains on the left hand side. Has anyone else run into this issue? I searched the forums, but couldn't find anyone with a solution.

I attached two pics. One of the left side and one of the right side for comparison.

I had some time to investigate a little further today. I found that the door hinge on the left is pushed out about 1/4 of an inch compared to the right hinge. It doesn't look cracked or broken. Bolts are all tight. Wonder if it got bent somehow? Will try to find the bend area and try to put it back. If not, I guess new hinge.

If anyone has had this issue please let me know.

Thanks
Dan
