After reading reviews and emailing N54tuning, I changed my order to the resonated version. I read that the straight pipe version can be loud. N54tuning's rep. stated that the resonated version eliminates the drone of the straight pipe with no reduction in HP gains, however the pipes with the high flow cats are the quietest.

^^^ I completely agree. I did a build for a friend with MPE and DPs and it sounded like someone dumped a pile of bolts in the muffler, awful! That exhaust was swapped out for a stock system w/ vibrant resonators within a week.
I've installed AR non-resonated DPs on an E60 build with Pure stage 2 and stock exhaust. That car really isn't even close to what anyone would consider loud.
On my FBO+ E61 I have my own custom DPs with stock exhaust and it is so close to stock that you probably wouldn't know I have DPs unless I told you.
For sound I wouldn't be to worried about having non-resonated DPs on an E60/61 but props for anyone adding cats because they are thinking about the environmental impact.
The best I've done in that department is tune my car to make 27-28 MPG on NY to Boston highway trips.
