iPod Y-Cable 6FL vs generic Y-cable differences?

Has anyone done any exploring as to what the 6FL cable actually has inside?
I purchased a cable similar to http://cgi.ebay.com/3-5mm-Audio-Line-USB-Cable-Dock-IPHONE-IPOD-EA216-/170642357004?pt=Other_MP3_Player_Accessories&hash=item27bb13bb0c#ht_3791wt_1139 which yields this problem.
How is that cable different than ? Or is it?
Anybody with more experience able to shed some light?
