PLEASE NOTE THIS GUIDE IS FOR LCI CARS ONLY!!! And you need Xenon head lights in order for it to work.

use those part numbers to gather the 2 wires and connector you need to make this

the connector will plug into the mirror and the two wires will need to be routed to the yellow and black k-can wires located at the kgm module underneath the glove box.

you can either tap into the wires by splicing into them or unplugging them and creating a y split harness so that you don't need to cut into original wiring. which ever you chose make sure the yellow and black wires go back in to the harness and plugged back into kgm module then you can close every thing up

now that you have tapped into the K-CAN wires you need to route it to the mirror it will need to go along side the glove box up the pillar through the headliner and into the sunroof control

the Black will go to pin 1 of the fla connector and the yellow will go to pin 2, pin3 will be left empty.

coding instructions

1. Use NCSExpert to add $5AC to the vehicle order in both LMA and CAS

2. Use NCSExpert to "reset" the following modules according to the VO: FLA, KOMBI and LMA (additional coding with winkfp to update KOMBI to latest software version may be necessary, if high beam assist logo doesn't appear on instrument panel)

3. Use NCSExpert to change VA_LONGDISTANCELIGHT in the CCC_APPL to aktiv (this will give you a high beam assist on/off option in idrive settings.

If you have a late model e60 and your rain light sensor looks round instead of square shaped, pictured in first post. You will need to tap into kcan high (black) and kcan low (yellow) twisted wires. The closest place to locate them on the lci e60 is NOT in the rain sensor like most guides suggest, but connected to the kgm module located right below the glove box. You will need to remove the roof of the passenger side footwell, tap and splice into the yellow and black pins from the left most harness and route the wires up the right side pillar across the roof liner, into the sun roof controls and finally through the tube going to the mirror. you will need to source the proper tyco contacts to the wires and also source the proper 3 pin male harness to connect to the fla female harness on the mirror. Make sure you put black in pin one and yellow in pin 2 the third remains empty. Tuck everything away and put the car back together. Finally code it and all should be working correctly.

I will update further with some pictures and coding instructions soon ....

In your case you will use the same pins, and yellow and black wires. Only difference is you will be tapping into those wires at the rain light sensor ( rectangular box on windshield in front of the mirror) instead of the kbm module. This post has pictures of someone who did this mod and has a pre lci like yours
