Looking for any negatives (other than ride quality) of going with a Dunlop M3 DSST (run flat) tire for my snow (on 18" wheels). The lack of a spare in a Chicago winter scares the crap out of me.

Had runflats on my 645...hated them. No matter snow, rain, or sunny...absolutely hated them.

Didn't love them on the 550, but sure did miss them when I blew out a tire on the M5 had no spare....

RFT are not that bad, had them on my 650CiC and they always performed. I sometimes wonder when others complain about the RFT. They often have the same response, "They are too hard." I thought they were fine.
Would I put RFT on my M5? You know, I haven't thought about it much. The RFT are heavier but I suspect they will cause no issue.

Nokian says the WRG2 is the tire for that size?

My brother runs RFT's on his Caddy CTS-V. We were at a Red Wings game and some schmuck stabbed his tire with a exact o knife, we drove it home no problems and it really saved on some real headaches of having to tow the car. RFT's are a handy thing to have, but preformance is lacking slightly and increased expense can't be overlooked... Go with what you feel!
